The Israeli Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed on Tuesday that an Israeli soldier has died from a fungal disease inside Gaza, while 10 other soldiers were infected.
The Israeli newspaper did not reveal further details regarding the disease.
This outbreak follows similar incidents discovered amongst occupation forces in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation reported earlier in December that Israeli occupation soldiers were seriously injured during the fighting and died after being infected with deadly resistant bacteria inside hospitals, Pulse Mubasher reported.
Health officials in Israel warned that Israeli soldiers wounded in the aggression on Gaza may suffer from drug-resistant germs. The Infectious Diseases Society (IID) in Israel said that many drug-resistant pathogens have been reported especially in extremity injuries, including the highly resistant bacterial strains of Klebsiella, Escherichia coli, and Aspergillus fungi.
The president of the IID, Professor Galia Rahav, explained, “There are reports in all hospitals that soldiers have returned from the battlefield with resistant infections, and a large portion of the infections that are diagnosed among wounded soldiers are also discovered from time to time in Israel, but they are found in people who have been exposed to this bacteria and not before that.”
