Egypt stresses it is not responsible for hindering exit through Rafah Crossing

Egypt on Friday stressed that it is not responsible for obstructing the exit of foreign nationals from the Gaza Strip through the Rafah land crossing, as Israel targeted the crossing four times.

A statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry explained, “The series of targeting Egypt in the Western media has been clear since the beginning of the crisis, promoting displacement and blaming it for closing the crossing even though Israel targeted it four times and refuses the entry of aid.”

“Today it (Egypt) is held responsible for obstructing the exit of third-country nationals… The crossing is open and Egypt is not responsible for obstructing their exit.”

Egyptian officials at the crossing prepared the road leading to the Palestinian side, as truck drivers carrying humanitarian and medical aid began moving from the city of al-Arish towards Rafah land crossing.

The Governor of North Sinai, Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shosha, said that 14 planes arrived at Arish from several countries carrying about 3,000 tons of food, medical aid, and medicines provided by a number of parties for the benefit of the Gaza Strip.
