Hamas leader assures Gazans will not flee to Egypt

The head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, said that the people of Gaza are rooted in their homeland and will not abandon it.

“There is no immigration from the West Bank or from Gaza, and I say no immigration from Gaza to Egypt,” he stressed.

In a speech on Saturday evening, Haniyeh praised Egypt’s position, saying: “Our brothers in Egypt, our decision is to remain in our land, and your decision is our decision, and the battle of the Al-Aqsa Storm marked the true beginning of the demise of the occupation.”

He saluted what he called “the valiant resistance on the land of Gaza.”

Haniyeh noted the strategic defeat that the Israeli occupation suffered on October 7 at the hands of the Qassam Brigades, one which shook Israel to its core. The strike put an end to the Zionist policy and plans carried out by the occupation government in Al-Aqsa, the West Bank, and Gaza, he added.

The resistance and the inability of the occupation army – which he described as “cowardly” – to confront the strike caused them to commit massacres, genocide, and attempts at displacement.

He also touched on the double standards on which the American administration and some Western countries support Israel and adopt false narratives.

Haniyeh explained that there is one line, the line of return, liberating the entire Palestinian territory with its capital, Holy Jerusalem and lifting the siege, killing, and destruction of Gaza.

The Hamas leader saluted the residents of the Gaza Strip who stand in the face of the machine of death and destruction by clinging to their homes and mosques, pointing out that Gaza today is speaking its historic word and proving their right to their land, dignity and pride.
