Angelina Jolie to star in biopic on opera singer Maria Callas

Angelina Jolie has continued filming on her upcoming movie “Maria” about the life of opera singer Maria Callas.

Jolie wore some of Callas’ real clothes in the movie, including antique fur pieces the acclaimed singer owned and wore at her concerts. The attires were provided from a collection of the Massimo Cantini Parrini fashion house.

A photo of Jolie dressed in Callas’s signature glasses, clothes and makeup went viral, with many fans of the actress mistaking her for the actual singer.

Callas is a Greek opera singer born in 1923 and died in 1977 who lived her childhood years in the Greek Quarter in New York, before returning with her mother to Greece, at the age of thirteen.

She won a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement and was famous for her performance on stage and her turbulent love life as she had a turbulent romance with the Greek Aristotle Onassis, who married Jacqueline Kennedy.

In speaking of the importance of her role, Jolie previously said, “I take very seriously the responsibility to Maria’s life and legacy. I will give all I can to meet the challenge.”

In 1998, Jolie previously played the role of supermodel Gia Carangi, and in 2007, she portrayed Mariane Pearl in the “A Mighty Heart” movie.
