Judge Hosni Abdel-Latif on Sunday took the legal oath in front of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to take the post of the President to the Cassation Court and the Supreme Judicial Council, succeeding outgoing Judge Mohamed Mahgoub.
Sisi issued a decree appointing Abdel-Latif as the president of Cassation Court by appointment, from among the most senior seven deputies to the president of the court, pursuant to Article 185 of the Egyptian Constitution, to be the 49th president of the Egyptian Cassation Court.
Biography
– Graduated from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University in 1977.
– Began his judicial career as Deputy Public Prosecutor in 1978 and held leadership positions in the Public Prosecution for eight years.
– Appointed as a judge in the courts of first instance in 1986, and was assigned to the technical office of Cassation Court.
– He headed the civil department and delegated as the head of the technical office of the Cassation Court, in addition to his membership in the Political Parties Committee.
– Abdel-Latif now joins the membership of the Supreme Council of Judicial Bodies and Bodies along with the heads of judicial bodies and the President of the Supreme Constitutional Court to consider draft laws regulating the affairs of judicial bodies, and the conditions for appointing, promoting and disciplining their members.
