The Egyptian Interior Ministry seized more than 5,000 firearms in the possession of 4,200 suspects in one month.
The Ministry of the Interior seized a total 5,045 firearms in the possession of 4,266 suspects, according to Youm7 newspaper, which included an RPG, FN MAG, three machine guns, 424 automatic rifles, 826 armored and unarmored rifles, 253 pistols, 3,537 locally made guns, a number of bullets, and 7,108 bladed weapons.
Three workshops for the manufacture of firearms were seized, alongside weapon manufacturing tools.
The ministry arrested 61 gangs, which included 223 suspects who committed 362 misdemeanors, 815 criminals accused of thuggery and possessing 217 guns, a number of bullets of different sizes, and 584 bladed weapons.
