Tagammu Party MP Mohamed Abdel Aziz Shaaban passed away on Thursday only days after winning recently concluded parliamentary elections.
Shaaban had been suffering from cancer, and his health is said to have deteriorated rapidly in recent weeks. He had won four consecutive parliamentary races and had represented his electoral district for almost 20 years.
With Shaaban’s passing, the leftist party will forfeit one of the five seats it holds in the People's Assembly.
