Egyptian Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Mohamed Abdel Ati has criticized Ethiopia’s continued intransigence regarding Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
During the plenary session of the House of Representatives, Abdel Ati said that the American mediating side had initially assisted in a draft agreement, and Egypt had signed it in the initials, only for Ethiopia to reject it.
Egypt continued to work on, responding to the Sudanese prime minister’s initiative and joining in many tripartite meetings, yet Ethiopia has backed away from most technical terms during the meetings, especially regarding technical matters.
Four more meetings were held under the auspices of the African Union, followed by five meetings in the presence of the Ministers of Irrigation and Foreign Affairs, but Ethiopia remains stringent in the matter.
Sudan said that it will not accept the imposition of a fait accompli deal in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations, and is eager to respond against Ethiopia without resorting to war.
Sudanese Sovereignty Council member Mohammed al-Fekky said that the Sudanese army can protect Sudanese territories and restore its lands in dispute with Ethiopia.
