The ruling National Democratic Party (NDP)'s executive committee is scheduled to convene on Wednesday to assess the results of Sunday's parliamentary polls and prepare for runoff elections slated for early next week.
“The party didn't cut deals with anyone, nor has it deceived anybody,” said NDP veteran Safwat al-Sherif.
He went on to assert that the party's strong electoral showing had merely reflected the "strenuous efforts" made by the NDP within the last five years.
“The party harvested the fruits of its respect for the people and its successful social and economic policies,” al-Sherif said.
