Al-Badry Farghaly, a leading member of the opposition Tagammu Party, resigned from the party on Tuesday–after having been a member for 40 years–to protest Tagammu’s weak stance vis-a-vis Sunday's fraud-laden parliamentary elections.
His resignation was accompanied by those of 75 other party members.
“Al-Tagammu has become an arm of the ruling National Democratic Party,” Farghaly asserted, going on to accuse party president Refaat al-Saeed of having achieved personal gains from his relationship with the regime.
