Ambassadors from Italy, the UK and Mexico all expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and other authorities in helping tourists from the three countries return home from Egypt.
The British ambassador to Cairo Geoffrey Adams expressed his country’s appreciation for the support provided by the Ministry in helping 13,000 British tourists who were stranded in Egypt return to the UK.
British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab wrote on his official Twitter account: “Our Embassies around the world are working continuously with their host governments to overcome the challenges of #coronavirus. I thank Egypt for its support in helping 13,000 Britons to return to [the UK]. Cooperation at this time has been critical.”
Italian ambassador to Cairo Giampaolo Cantini also extended his thanks for the assistance the Italian embassy received from the Egyptian authorities, who worked to return 3,806 Italian citizens to Italy.
He also extended special thanks to Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled al-Anani for his statement on an Italian television channel regarding the solidarity between Italy and the Egyptian people and government, saying that he hopes the situation in the country and worldwide will return to normal soon and that Italian tourists will travel to Egypt in greater numbers than ever before.
The Mexican ambassador to Cairo also thanked the Egyptian authorities for organizing the return of Mexican nationals to their country after the suspension of international flights.
