Kuwaiti Ambassador: Egyptians deported for illegal assembly

Kuwaiti authorities deported another four Egyptian supporters of ElBaradei yesterday, bringing the total number of deported Egyptians to 21.

No charges have been brought against the deported Egyptians, either by Kuwaiti or Egyptian security forces, according to Gamal Eid, director of the Arab Information Network for Human Rights.

"The 21 deported Egyptians were arrested for assembling in al-Salemiyah area, next to Sultan Commercial Center," said Rasheed al-Hamad, Kuwaiti ambassador to Egypt, to Al-Masry Al-Youm. "Assembly is not allowed unless official permission is obtained from the Kuwaiti government."

Al-Hamad added that so far no official statement has been issued by the Kuwaiti government concerning the incidents, and he has no further information.
