Egyptian national team player Mohamed Elneny took part Wednesday in his first training session with the Turkish club Besiktas, with which he signed while on loan from Arsenal for a season.
The official Twitter account for Besiktas published pictures of Neny at the practice.
Besiktas will face Gaziantepspor on September 15 in a match for the Turkish league, in which Besiktas ranks eighth with four points.
Neny took part in 17 matches for Arsenal last season.
The Daily Mail English newspaper reported in August that Neny was set to leave Arsenal before the end of the European transfer window after being told that he, along with Turkish player Shkodran Mustafi, were surplus to the requirements of the team.
According to the paper, Neny’s weekly salary at Arsenal stood at £55,000.
Neny signed with Besiktas at the end of August on a season-long loan.
Neny wrote on August 31 on his Twitter account: “I am very excited to be joining Turkish giants Besiktas and I look forward to achieving our targets in the Super Lig and Europe. To my dear Arsenal fans and teammates, I wish all the success for the season and be sure that I will be following the team’s progress from Istanbul.”
