The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will begin on Monday a European tour that includes visits to Belarus and Romania. The presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said that the president’s visit to Belarus will include an in-depth discussion of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them.
Sisi will meet with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, as well as with the president of the National Assembly and Speaker of the Belarusian House of Representatives to discuss views on and visions for various regional and international political issues of common interest.
The president is due to visit the capital, Minsk, to sign numerous agreements regarding various areas of bilateral cooperation. The economic and investment aspects will be particularly important during the visit.
Sisi will meet with representatives of the Belarusian business community and heads of major Belarusian companies as well as senior officials and representatives of government agencies concerned with reviewing the prospects of bilateral economic cooperation and investment opportunities in Egypt in light of major national projects being built throughout the country.
The presidential spokesman added that the president will then head to the Romanian capital of Bucharest, where he will hold talks with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, in addition to meeting heads of the House of Representatives and the Senate in Romania to discuss ways of enhancing political and economic relations between the two friendly countries and cooperation between the two countries at the international and regional levels.
The president will deliver a speech at the Bucharest Economic Studies University. The speech will shed light on cultural relations between Egypt and Romania, efforts to develop the higher education system and advance scientific research in Egypt, and prospects for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
