A group of young Egyptians have launched a campaign under the slogan "I'm Egypt" to promote tourism and change the mental image of Egypt. They chose the campaign's name to express the greatness of Egypt, and their pride in showing "all the rich touristic destinations that God has endowed it with."
The campaign used the slogan: "I'm Egypt, proud of Egypt and its safety and warmth".
The campaign is an invitation to visit the country and see for yourself how safe Egypt is with its warm climate and wonderful atmosphere throughout the year; and the smiling Egyptians, who are loving people by nature and definitely enjoy serving tourists.
Raymond Najeeb, one of the volunteer from the campaign said: "We're starting a new campaign outside the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism. The volunteer campaign joins youth working in the tourism industry in coordination with several tourist entities, travel agencies, tour guides, and workers in hotels; the next step will target university students to promote tourism awareness among that group."
He added that the campaign is self-financed, and thus, human effort is the key element in its success, which relies on collected marketing materials from the participants. Members of the campaign volunteer to help in promoting it via public relations companies for free.
There was a good turnout of tour guides which gave weight and strength to the campaign. Najeeb said that tour guides are the sweet voice of Egypt, which tells tourists about the greatness of Egypt and its heritage, contributing in this way with daily videos and images that form the voice of the campaign.
Ramy Nicola owner of a tourism company and Bishoy Habib, owner of a marketing and public relations company have both played a key role in supporting the campaign, both financially and morally.
They have devoted all their time, money and effort to help the campaign take off, for they believe that the private sector's input is important in supporting Egypt Tourism and that a key role should be played by the sons of the nation at times of hardships.
