Giza police investigations revealed the names of the perpetrators of the Haram checkpoint bombing of Friday, where six policemen were killed and three others were injured.
Six defendants in the assassination attempt of former Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, who are currently imprisoned in Tora Prison, were interrogated over the checkpoint blast, after investigations showed they had links to it.
Eight suspects were arrested over the past 48 hours, accused of involvement in the Haram bombing, according to investigations.
A security source with the Giza Security Directorate said police forces and bomb squads combed 20 apartments in Haram neighborhood using sniffer dogs.
One of the defendant in the assassination attempt of Gomaa guided the police to the suspects in the Haram blast, said the security source.
The source added that the same cell plotted 16 terrorist attacks where 19 policemen lost their lives since the ouster of the Muslim Brotherhood.
