A delegation composed of representatives of 50 US companies, headed by Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State David Thorne, arrived in Cairo on Sunday.
The delegation aims to investigate investment opportunities in Egypt, with the Suez Canal area high on the list of locations.
The delegation will meet with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and the ministers of electricity and petroleum.
Chief of the US Chamber of Commerce in Egypt Anis Aclimandos said a press conference will be held on Tuesday to announce details of meetings involving the US companies.
According to experts, the delegation’s visit is a chance to attract new investment in Egypt in several sectors.
However, they say this requires expediting the issuance of a new investment law, as well as stabilizing the exchange rate, allowing foreign companies to establish more certainty in the future.
