Insurance companies have agreed to give US$25,000 to each family of the victims of the EgyptAir flight MS802 crash, as an interim payment for the full compensation to be paid to families, said Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Safwat Mesallam.
Death certificates will be issued in the next two days, he said, and the legalities settled concerning who will inherit the money.
The full compensation will be determined by the rules of international insurance as applied in similar cases.
EgyptAir Holding Company is communicating with the families of victims through a website set up by EgyptAir since the crash occurred to facilitate swift communication along with other means of communication, in order to guarantee that the needs and rights of the families are upheld, Mesallam said.
A personal account has been set up on the website for a representative of each victim's family to ensure privacy with regard to dealing with questions and inquiries, he added.
Information and press releases that have been published and issued either by the company or by investigators on this matter have been published on the website.
