The unemployment rate currently stands at 12.7 percent, according to estimates by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, said Manpower Minister Gamal Sorour on Friday, pointing out that the ministry plans during the coming period to reduce the ratio by 1.5 percent per annum.
The ministry plans to reduce unemployment by providing job opportunities through closer cooperation with business owners and investors. Additionally, jobs will be offered through agreements and cooperations with some countries with growing economies that represent promising non-traditional markets for Egyptian labor, said Sorour.
The ministry has 44 vocational training centers that are being developed to be in line with the needs of the labor market, the minister added.
The ministry's vocational training programs are regularly modernized and developed and trainers attend training programs to increase their skills, said the minister, pointing out that the Financial Regulation of Training has been amended to increase trainer allowance to LE20 instead of LE10 a day.
