Russia may provide the Egyptian fleet with helicopters for the Mistral aircraft carriers by the end of 2017, a Russian military official told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.
"If the deal was concluded in 2016, the helicopters will be delivered to Egypt by the end of 2017," the official said, adding that negotiations were ongoing in the deal. According to the official, the Egyptian Defense Ministry has to submit an official request to the Russian Defense Ministry if the two parties agree.
"We need about half a year to study the request and conduct scientific research and experimental construction work needed in this regard," he said.
