Beheira Governor Mohamed Sultan has allocated two public transport buses for women only: the first move of its kind in Egypt.
Samah Ammar of the Farmers’ Syndicate had come up with the idea to mimic Cairo's metro system, where certain cars are only for women. “We want to avoid the harassment of women in public transport,” she said.
