Representatives of international organizations monitoring the runoffs in the second phase of the parliamentary elections visited several polling stations in Cairo and other governorates on Tuesday to monitor the electoral process and record their observations.
One delegation, which included an observer from Spain and another from Uganda, noted that the elections were well secured but turnout was low in the polling stations they visited.
The delegation of the African Sustainable Democracy Electoral Institute, which is headed by Qasim Lautem, the former President of Mauritius, inspected stations in Shubra on Tuesday morning and is continuing to inspect other stations in Zamalek to see if turnout will increase in the evening.
