Hend Sabry was chosen as honorary president of the Gabès Festival of Arabic films to be held in the south of Tunisia (October 14 – 18) under the slogan of “Cultural Decentralization”.
The festival aims to disseminate the culture of cinema among young generations and create a link between audience and filmmakers.
“It is a great honor,” said Sabry, adding that she herself comes from the south of Tunisia, the cradle of the Arab Spring. “I believe in cultural decentralization. It takes us out of the dark times that we have seen before.”
The festival offers awards to feature and short films. It is also honoring Algerian cinema and the pioneers of Arab cinema and organizing seminars and workshops about the film industry.
