Egypt’s presidency has ordered the opening of the Rafah land crossing on the borders with the Palestinian Gaza Strip to be extended through to Thursday and Friday, both ways.
The decision comes after a similar extension through Tuesday and Wednesday. Egyptian authorities had originally opened the pathway on Saturday for two days.
The Rafah crossing is the only way in and out for Gazan Palestinians traveling for medication, education and various other reasons.
Egypt has kept its main crossing to Hamas-run Gaza Strip closed since the ouster of its former president, and major Hamas ally, Mohamed Morsi in 2013, only opening it occasionally for declared periods to let patients and students pass through.
