Security sources have said that elements of the Ansar Beit al-Maqdis group detonated by remote control a planted IED while an armored vehicle was passing in the Al-Safa district south of Arish on Wednesday, moderately injuring two policemen.
The sources said the shock of the blast was felt in the neighboring districts of the city amid the silence of the curfew. It was followed by gunfire and flash bombs.
The injured policemen, Sayed Gamal al-Sayed, 28, and Farag Riad Mohamed, 38, were transferred to the Arish military hospital for treatment. No one else was injured.
Security forces are combing the area to search for the assailants.
Meanwhile, another security source said three other bombs exploded in Arish near the cemetery, the ring road and a security vehicle. There were no casualties.
