Abdel Hamid Lotfy, head of the Egyptian Mint Authority, said the government has issued 54 million pounds in coins from July 2014 until April 2015, including 20.64 million in one-pound coins, 32.605 million in 50-piaster coins and 10.445 million in 25-piasters.
“We will provide the coins needed in the next three years,” he said, adding that the authority is installing a new machine for producing the one-pound coin, in order to meet the increased demand.
