The actual production of energy in Egypt reached LE550 billion in 2013, compared to LE535 billion in 2012, marking an increase of 2.8 percent, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
In its annual bulletin issued on Tuesday on the actual production, inactive energy and the stock of the production, CAPMAS said the petroleum and natural gas excavation industry reached LE207.6 billion, followed by food industries which reached LE65.6 billion.
The total value of inactive energy reached LE97.7 billion in 2013, compared to LE28 billion in 2012. The report attributed the 249.6 percent increase to workers’ protests, which suspended work at steel factories.
The basic metals industry reached LE71.4 billion, followed by the food industries, which reached LE7.7 billion.
The total stock of production reached LE16.2 billion in 2013, compared to LE17 billion in 2012.
The pharmaceutical and chemical substances industry reached LE2.2 billion, followed by the non-metals industry which reached LE2 billion.
