A homemade bomb exploded on Tuesday inside an apartment owned by three Al-Azhar University students, situated in the Arab Contractors area in Nasr City.
The injured have been transferred to the hospital in a critical condition, where one of the them has had his arm amputated.
According to perliminary investigations, the students, aged between 21 and 23 years old, are Muslim Brotherhood members. According to a source at Cairo Security Directorate, it is likely that the students were planning an attack within the coming days.
The security forces surrounded the area, with prosecutors and criminal police taking over the investigation.
One of the defendants is currently being interrogated in order to determine the sources of funding for the students.
