Workers staged a number of protests in Cairo and other cities on Tuesday, several days before Labor Day celebrations.
In Cairo, the workers of the Land Reclamation Holding Company subsidiaries, who have been staging a sit-in for ten days, sent a memorandum to the Minister of Agriculture, requesting him to investigate the company managers, whom they accuse of deliberately incurring losses by refusing to seal a LE400 million deal with an Emirati company, an amount that could solve the company’s financial problems.
The workers of Torah Cement continued their sit-in for the third consecutive day, demanding their share of the company's profits.
The employees of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Gharbiya demanded the resignation of Mohamed Shehata, the Undersecretary, who took the decision of moving the office to a new building.
In Hurghada, bazaar owners staged protests when the officials threatened to close down their shops for failing to pay the rent. They demand the restructuring of their debts and rescheduling the payments, in light of the low amount of tourists.
In Qena, farmers protested against the delay in sugar cane fertilizers supplies, which could affect this year's crops.
