Political analyst Mostafa al-Feqqy has denied rumors that he demanded the leaders and members of the Muslim Brotherhood who had verdicts issued against him, not to be executed.
He said that such rumors are untrue.
In a phone call with a talk show aired on the privately-owned TV channel Sada al-Balad on Saturday, Feqqy said, “When I was asked in a talk show about the death penalty in general, I said I have been a proponent for the canceling of the death penalty. I did not mean the Brotherhood.”
He added, “I’m not against the execution of whomever is involved in violence and murder. Islamic sharia stipulates the killing of anyone who has killed others.”
