Temporary workers of Petroshahd Petroleum continued their hunger strike for the second week in a row, demanding permanent contracts for having worked for the company for four years.
“The management and the representatives of the General Petroleum Authority failed in their negotiations with us on Wednesday evening,” said Mohamed Salah. “Ignoring our demands will freeze all dialogue.”
Meanwhile, workers of the Industrial and Engineering Projects Company threatened to stage a sit-in because they have not been paid their salaries for four months.
“There are 2,300 workers risking homelessness because the management is ignoring their demands,” said Ali Zaki, head of the company’s workers union.
Also, workers of the Land Reclamation Coalition threatened to stage protests outside the council of ministers next week because they have not been paid their salaries for eight months after the deadline the prime minister asked for to study the matter has passed.
