Awad Marzouk of the Marine Wealth Cooperative Union said Egypt should maintain its fish wealth and forbid indiscriminate fishing.
This came at a meeting with Minister of Agriculture Adel al-Beltagy on Thursday.
Marzouk also said Egypt passed through four lean years in fish wealth and hoped this would end in 2015.
He said governors and local councils should not interfere in fishing activities. “They are the reason for our low productivity,” he said.
