Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb and Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Adel al-Beltagy will inaugurate next week the first animal museum in the Middle East at the Giza Zoo.
Chief of the General Authority for Veterinary Services Osama Selim said the museum has been implemented under the supervision of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces over three years.
Selim added in a press statement to Al-Masry Al-Youm the museum includes 2,377 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, skulls, skeletons and bones of animals.
The museum also includes mummified animals like the last tiger that lived in the Sinai Peninsula, the African Cheetah, the white deer which inhabited Egypt hundred of years ago, the Nile crocodile, the Ibis bird, which was sacred to the Pharaohs and is now extinct in Egypt.
The three-story museum includes 1,352 species of birds, 555 species of mammals, 259 species of reptiles, 115 species of skulls and 35 skeletons.
