An Egyptian researcher has won the second place US$600 prize for research she conducted on smart applications used for agricultural purposes.
In its second session, Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development, held in Sharjah, UAE, awarded on Saturday its Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) prize to Nashwa al-Bendary, an Egyptian researcher.
Bendary’s research tackles smart applications of data and image processing applications that help monitor vegetation of crops and the impact of climate change on their cultivation.
The first award, $10,000, was given to Iraqi researcher Roa al-Atwany for her biotechnology work.
Organizers of the forum included the European Commission, the European Development Bank and the UNESCO.
