Sabra al-Qasimy, a former leader of the Islamic Jihad organization, said the fact that terrorist group Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis has officially sworn allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, prooving, he said, that the army and the police have been successful in their war on terrorism in the Sinai.
“They have thereby admitted that they are weak and need financial and moral support from IS,” he said on Monday, adding that the Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis group is trying to attract religious and enthusiastic young people who are impressed by IS to join them instead of traveling to Syria and Iraq.
He said that his organization has posted on social networking sites the large ground gained by IS, despite its violence and failures by other Islamists like the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, though it believed in democracy.
