Egypt was re-elected member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) council during 2015- 2018 for the 14th time in Egypt’s history and the 11th time consecutively, according to a statement issued by Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Monday.
The ITU Plenipotentiary Conference is held from 20 October to 7 November in Busan, Republic of Korea.
The Plenipotentiary Conference is the top policy-making body of ITU identifying strategic and financial plans for the next four years.
This year, Egypt compete with 16 African countries over 13 seats allocated for the African continent.
Throughout the conference, the elections process confirms candidates in the organization’s five elected posts as well as the membership of the
Radio Regulations Board and the membership of ITU Council.
