Morsy’s espionage trial postponed until 14 October

Cairo Criminal Court adjourned on Monday trial of toppled President Mohamed Morsy and 34 other Muslim Brotherhood figures over espionage charges until 14 October due to absence of Morsy and the suspect Mohamed Refaa al-Tahtawy.

The Court President Shaaban al-Shamy said a letter was sent from the prison administration over the inability to bring Morsy due to security reasons.

Twenty suspects including Morsy, Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and others were remanded into custody pending investigations, while the other 16 suspects are fugitives, who were ordered by prosecution to be arrested.

The suspects are accused of spying for foreign agencies, disclosing national security secrets to foreign country and financing terrorism.
