The National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL) that supports deposed president Mohamed Morsy said on Wednesday that it has dropped the membership of the Salafi Al-Watan party upon its request.
This comes a few days after the Al-Wasat Party also withdrew from the alliance.
An NASL source speaking on condition of anonymity said the alliance is restructuring itself to include the 25 January revolution youth and other revolutionary forces that oppose the coup against Morsy so as to achieve the objectives of the revolution.
The Al-Watan Party said in a statement that it withdrew in order restructure itself and not due to any differences with the alliance.
Salafi Front spokesperson Khaled Saeed said the members of the alliance differ on the crisis management techniques but agree that they do not recognize the legitimacy of Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
Meanwhile, the Gamaa Islamiya’s Construction and Development Party said it too is considering withdrawing from the alliance after it called on the government to reconcile with the Islamist forces.
Sources within the group said that they only recognize the legitimacy of Mohamed Morsy but they do not want to clash with the regime.
