Leading sources at the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy (NASL) said the alliance is considering to freeze its activities or close down completely in protest at the decision to disband the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party.
In a statement on Sunday, the NASL said the disbandment of the Freedom and Justice Party is unconstitutional because the judiciary is politicized and dependent, adding that the decision came after the dissolution of the majority in the two houses of parliament in order to consolidate the coup against the will of the people.
The statement said the party had already been disbanded on 3 July 2013 when all its branches were burned down, its leaders arrested, its newspaper closed down and its bank accounts frozen, all in practices that blew the democratic experiment that came after the 25 January revolution.
