Civil Aviation Ministry: Over 4,000 Egyptians evacuated from Libya

An EgyptAir flight arrived in Cairo on Wednesday from Tunisia with 260 Egyptians, who have been stranded on the Libya-Tunisia, on board, according to navigational sources.

This brings the total number of Egyptians transferred from Tunisia to Egypt since an airbridge was established between the two countries on Thursday to 4,212 passengers on 16 different flights.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said that the number of Egyptians stranded on the Libya-Tunisia borders was between 5,000-10,000 people.

Armed battles between rival militant groups in Libya have been taking place since 13 July.

The Ras Jdir and Dehiba border crossings have seen a large number of evacuees from different nationalities who have been trying to escape the turmoil in Libya.
