Egypt working hard for Palestine-Israel ceasefire

Egyptian officials are working hard to find a political solution to the Palestine-Israel conflict in light of military operations against Gaza.

"Egypt will resume communications and efforts seeking an immediate ceasefire that prevents the bloodshed of Palestinians through the Egyptian initiative," Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said.

Shoukry had received a phone call from his US counterpart John Kerry over developments about the conflict.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Badr Abdel Aaaty said Kerry renewed his country's support toward the Egyptian initiative during the call.

Unconfirmed news reports indicated that Hamas and Israel have reached a ceasefire agreement that will be implemented starting Friday.

An Israeli delegation left Cairo on Thursday returning to Tel Aviv after a brief visit. The delegation met with senior Egyptian officials to discuss the terms of the ceasefire.

The sources added that Egypt will try to get guarantees from both sides to promote stability.
