The Banha Criminal Court on Wednesday sentenced Abdullah Morsy, son of deposed President Mohamed Morsy, and one of his friends to a year in prison and fined him LE10,000 for smoking hash in a car in the Al-Obour district of Qalyubiya.
In the last hearing, the court took the testimony of Mohamed Abdel Qader Gheit, a senior forensic doctor in Qalyubia and Gharbiya, after the defense requested clarification on certain medical issues.
The defense had argued that blood samples showed no evidence of intoxicants and that the reason the defendants' clothes smelled like smoke was because they were detained inside a police station for 24 hours before samples were taken from them, suggesting they were passive smokers.
