Dollar exchange rate stabilizes

The dollar exchange rate has stabilized by the end of last week at LE7.14 for buying and LE7.17 for selling, while the euro was LE9.73 for buying and LE9.78 for selling.

The central bank offered 212 bids to local banks to provide currency at a total value of US$8,960 billion, in addition to the five exceptional bids worth $5.3 billion.
 
The foreign cash reserves went down by $206 million in May after four consecutive increases since the beginning of 2014. It stands now at $17.2 billion versus $17.4 billion in April.
