On Sunday, Supreme State Security Court handed two defendants life sentences and sentenced two others to seven years for involvement in the Zeitoun terrorist cell case.
The court also cleared a number of other defendants.
Prosecutors had accused the defendants of forming a jihadist group, attacking Copts and tourists and damaging their property.
Mostafa Nassef, a lawyer defending one of the defendants, said the accusation was null and called, in his closing argument, for the defendants to be acquitted.
