On Wednesday, the Egyptian embassy in Ankara received a congratulatory message from Turkish President Abdullah Gul to Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi for his election as Egypt's new president.
Gul expressed his best wishes of peace and stability for the Egyptian people, as well as for President Sisi.
He added that the strong ties between the Egyptian and Turkish people have been ongoing for centuries and will always continue.
"I hope our relations will once again get back on track," Gul said.
In November, Egypt had downgraded relations with Turkey to the charge d'affaires level because of Turkey's intervention in Egyptian affairs.
