Prosecution investigates clashes between Cairo University students, security forces

Giza prosecution is investigating clashes that occurred last week at Cairo University between protesting pro-Muslim Brotherhood students and the security forces.

The prosecutor has requested State Security Agency investigations into the incident.
 
According to the investigations, supervised by South Giza Prosecutor Yasser al-Tallawy, the security forces were stationed at a distance of 200 meters from Cairo University's main gate, overlooking al-Nahda Square.
 
The security forces approached the university gate to confront student rallies students that were preparing to head to al-Nahda Street.
 
The students pelted rocks at the security forces who threw tear gas to disperse them.
 
A student was injured in clashes and 8 others were arrested, according to the prosection investigations.
 
The prosecution assigned inspecting the scene of the incident to the security agencies due to the difficult security situation, according to which bird shots were found on the ground.
 
Students Against the Coup movement, a pro-Muslim Brotherhood student movement formed after toppling President Mohamed Morsy in July 2013, organized a march from campus, Wednesday, to the outside of the university while chanting anti-military and anti-police slogans. The students used fireworks heavily against the security forces who used in turn tear gas to disperse them, injuring a student.
