Egypt presidential adviser mourns Nobel laureate Marquez

Egypt’s presidency mourned on Saturday Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez who died Thursday at 87 in Mexico.

In statements on Saturday, media adviser for Egypt’s interim presidency, Ahmed al-Meslimany, said Marquez, over the recent years, “had become the pioneer of world authors, unchallenged, enjoying the respect of politicians and intellectuals alike”, and had turned his fans into “disciples”.

Meslimany said the deceased Nobel literature prize laureate had been best expressive of the Latin American spirit, labelling his death as “an indescribable loss”.
