Military and police troops in Aswan arrested on Sunday eight persons rioting and violence in the governorate.
The clashes broke out on Friday between Nubians from the village of Daboud and the Beni Helal tribe reportedly after a girl belonging to one of the tribes was flirited on by a man of the other tribe. Moreover, abusive graffiti against both parties had been spraypainted on the walls of a secondary school. Twenty-five people were killed and dozens were injured.
Major General Hassan al-Sohagy, Aswan security chief, was notified of the arrest of three suspects for taking part in violence and firing shots randomly on Sunday which caused the death of two people.
Suspects were referred to Aswan prosecution, which ordered them to be remanded into custody for four days pending investigations.
Major General Mostafa Yousry, Aswan governor, and Kamal Taqadom, head of reconciliation committee, met with senior members of the two tribes. It has been agreed to stick to truce for three days until terms of reconciliation are agreed on.
