Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb said that the cabinet will work hard to achieve the goals of the 25 January and 30 June revolutions and to achieve social justice and dignity.
In his first speech aired on state-run TV, Mehleb called on people to take part in building the country through hard work and high production. He also vowed to impose security, confront terrorism, apply the law and protect Egyptians. He also saluted the martyr's spirit of the armed forces, police and citizens.
Mehleb said that Egypt’s battle is not only to defend its security but that of the whole Arab world.
“We depend on Azhar, the church, scientists and intellectuals to confront all forms of extremism,” Mehleb said, adding that whoever helps to spread centrism and find suitable resolutions will be supported.
"The cabinet will pay attention to development projects," he said, adding that it will begin the Suez Canal development project. He spoke of the importance of developing technical education, since these projects will be built by the youth.
The new cabinet, according to Mehleb, will work on structural imbalances and creating a favorable investment atmosphere to attract investors and provide jobs.
Mehleb pledged to create a democratic political atmosphere that guarantees integrity according to the constitution.
Mehled said, "The cabinet will pay attention to administrative and institutional reform, protecting the workers' rights and supporting the private sector and investments."
Mehleb called on people to stop sit-ins and strikes so the cabinet could work on achieving the goals and aspirations of the people.
At the end of his speech, he thanked the previous cabinet led by Hazem al-Beblawy, saying it worked under critical circumstances and under a heavy burden.
