North Giza prosecution ordered the referral of 52 suspects, including nine detainees, to Criminal Court for trial over breaking into Warraq police station, stealing 15 machine guns, 10 pistols, uniforms of the security personnel and setting fire to the police station, following the violence witnessed in the aftermath of the dispersal of Rabaa al-Adaweya and Nahda sit-ins last August.
MB Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie, and his deputy, Khairat al-Shater, are on top of the list of defendants.
According to investigations, suspects belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood. They were in possession bird shots, molotovs and arms. They are accused of joining a terrorist group, possessing unlicensed weapons, resisting police, setting governmental establishment on fire, damaging and stealing its contents as well as rioting.
Suspects denied all charges levelled against them. They also denied affiliation to the Brotherhood. Some of them denied presence at the site of the crime, while others claimed they gathered with residents to watch what happened.
National security agency investigators say they have proved involvement in the specified crimes that every one of them committed through videos.
